Jay Soemann, the antique clock doctor, is a master clockmaker with more than 50 years of clock repair experience and more than 100,000 hours of hands-on experience at the bench. Jay had an interest in clocks at a very early age.
He served an apprenticeship under a Swiss watchmaker and clockmaker, and gained his experience under the guidance of his father George, a German watchmaker and clockmaker. He has the expertise and skill to do many repair jobs that people have been told “can’t be done.” He loves a challenge and looks forward to every new job.
The antique clock doctor operates from Walker Bros. & Monroe Jewelers, located at 84 Webster Street in North Tonawanda, NY. Founded in 1925, the clock shop and jewelry store are owned and operated by Jay Soemann, with help from his qualified staff of experts in their respective fields of clock repair, clock sales, jewelry sales, jewelry repair and watch repair.
Located in Western New York, between Buffalo and Niagara Falls in the historic downtown area of North Tonawanda along the Erie Canal, the business has the distinction of being the oldest jewelry store and only clock repair shop and clock gallery in the Tonawandas region. As the property and circa 1880s building are also owned by Jay, he has remodeled and designed a state-of-the-art watch repair shop that has plenty of room to accommodate all aspects of antique clock repair.
